During the growth of the face and dental arches, the bones are quite "soft" or malleable. Any disturbance to this process can produce a lasting effect on the form of the face.

The photographs in this section will clearly illustrate how nonextraction treatment preserves the delicate balance of function and creates these wonderful smiles

ABOUT

Consumers spend millions of dollars every year to improve their smile through bonding, bleaching, orthodontics, clear fillings, implants and bridges. Orthodontic treatment or "braces" irreversibly affects your smile for the rest of your life. Therefore, the goal of orthodontics is to preserve as many functioning teeth as possible in order to create a "Hollywood" smile. The lips and cheeks receive maximum support when a full complement of teeth is present in the mouth.

Extraction of teeth significantly reduces this support causing premature ageing of the face.

Extracting Teeth to resolve crowded dentitions will, in most cases, produce a narrowing of the smile. A shadowing or area of darkness will appear at the corners of the mouth during the ageing process.

Extraction of teeth, especially in the growing child, should be avoided at all costs! For once teeth are removed, a broad beautiful smile is rarely achieved.
