He successfully represented his nonextraction approach at an extraction/nonextraction debate held at the College of Diplomates of the American Board of Orthodontists. He also participated in debates for the 1993 Southern Association of Orthodontists, 1998 Northeastern Society of Orthodontists, the 1999 American Academy of Pediatric and Adolescent Dentistry and the Japanese Orthodontic Society in 2001. His article in the August 1993 Journal of Clinical Orthodontics on "Simultaneous Torquing and Intrusion" aroused great interest in his methods for intruding maxillary incisors and eliminating "gummy smiles." His March 1995 Article that also appeared in the Journal of Clinical Orthodontics on his "Fixed Piston Appliance," accelerates the creation of space for tooth alignment and overbite correction for non-compliant patients. In 1999, Dr. Greenfield authored the first and only text book on "Non-Extraction Treatment."

In addition to serving as a referee for the American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics, Dr. Greenfield is a member of the American Association of Orthodontists, the Southern Association of Orthodontists and the Florida Association of Orthodontists.

Dr. Greenfield is the originator of four scientific patents. He has treated more than 10,000 non-extraction patients while developing his unique "Coordinated Arch Development™" technique and philosophy to create radiant smiles and greatly enhance orthodontic stability. He is a consultant to orthodontists throughout the world.
